Newly proposed EU platform rules can support digitalization of European hospitality SMEs
As the European umbrella organisation for hotels, bars, cafés and restaurants in Europe, HOTREC believes that the Digital Services and Markets Acts, presented on 15 December by the European Commission, are an opportunity to level the playing field, tackle illegal offers of services and give hospitality SMEs more control over their digital presence.

Save the winter tourism season - Suspend ineffective quarantine measures!
In line with new guidelines published by EASA and ECDC on testing and quarantine measures, NET members urge European governments to immediately suspend blanket quarantine measures and travel restrictions. €80 billion of potential tourism spending is in jeopardy.

Roadmap to rebuild the hospitality sector
HOTREC, the European umbrella association of Hotels, Restaurants and Cafés, and its trade union counterpart EFFAT, the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions, call upon the EU and Member States to follow a range of proposed measures to put the hospitality sector back on track. Social partners commit to cooperate in several joint actions, aiming at preparing the sector for future challenges.

Joint HOTREC and EFFAT Statement on Rebuilding the Hospitality Sector
The hospitality sector is key for Europe from both an economic and a social point of view and it has a high capacity to contribute to growth in other sectors of the economy. The relaunch of the sector must, therefore, be considered as a strategic priority of the EU.
